Quit Smoking with Herbs and Natural Aids

It is better to help yourself quit smoking using herbs and natural aids instead of pills and patches.

There are many herbs and natural supports you probably already have in your cabinets. First, water, drink at least eight glasses a day, more if possible, water will help keep you hydrated and help you feel fuller and therefore less likely to eat. Keep a glass of water handy at all times, so when you normally have a cigarette, you can reach for the glass instead. This will keep your hands busy.

Herbal teas are a great help, especially for self-soothing ones like chamomile, lavender, St Johns wort and lemon balm.

Avena herbal remedy traditionally used by healers in India to help opium addicts to quit. This herbal medicine affects the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain and suppresses the dependence of the addication. It calms anxiety and nervousness associated with withdrawal symptoms, and its effects are well known to be long-lasting.
Oatmeal or porridge would be a good breakfast, and also the place of another meal during the day. It is a fact that oatmeal can help you relax and promote sleep, a bowl of oatmeal before going to bed will help you sleep well at night. Bars, oatmeal cookies and oat cereals are good for snacks during the day, as are cereal bars and other all types of seeds, grains and dried fruit.
Smoking causes an excess of free radicals in the body, you need antioxidants to fight it. Vitamin C is a great source, be sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Among the best herbs and natural aids to stop smoking is the root of licorice, which is very useful to calm the cravings. It is the stress relieving properties that will soothe your nerves and reduce irritability and help break up body fat, thus proving useful in case of compensation with food. Licorice is also a natural expectorant, which helps greatly when the body needs to expel catarrh and mucus.

Baking soda raises the pH of urine, which will slow the elimination of nicotine, which already exists in the body. It may seem strange, but a slower elimination of nicotine results in less cravings.

Fruits and vegetables are very much needed when trying to quit smoking, as with herbs and natural supports that can replace the cravings and give your body the supplements it needs.

Chewing gum and sugarless candies may be necessary while trying to quit, but grapes and cherries and other fruit sized "candy" is even better.

Today, most areas of public places are smoke-free, so you really have no choice but to go several hours at a time without smoking, in this case, you should be able to completely stop smoking with herbs and natural aids to help you.

How to Overcome Depression After Quitting Smoking

Depression is an issue of focus for many that quit smoking. These times, quitting smoking is very difficult to do, and it is hard enough when you feel happy. Allow me to suppose that many people have a relapse during the depression, it becomes more difficult to stay focused and maintain the determination and motivation. For those who suffer from depressive episodes during the quitting process, this condition is usually mild and transient.

People who were diagnosed and/or treated for depression prior to quitting should monitor any changes in symptoms, as they begin and move forward in their smoke-free adventure. Some may experience changes in their symptoms, which may require a change in therapy. If you experience dramatic mood swings, when you stop smoking, or if they continue for a longer period, a visit to your doctor is recommended.

Symptoms of depression may include:
  • Insomnia
  • Sadness
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Anxiety or an "empty feeling
  • Fatigue
  • Changes in appetite (more or less)
  • Loss of interest in hobbies, activities
  • Emotional irritability
When quitting smoking, your body and mind are in transition, and it is not uncommon for new ex-smokers struggle with their feelings.

If you suffer from frequent temporary emotional disturbance, try to relax and let your emotions come as they do. Quitting smoking is a big change in lifestyle, and you can respond, to some extent, both mentally and physically. There's really no reason to deny the feelings are personal and belong to you because they are coming from you.

Best Way To Avoid Triggers That Cause Smoking

The way to a smoke-free life is full of traps and snares for many smokers who want to quit smoking. It seems that no matter how they try, they are finally defeated by a strong craving they simply can not resist. Even with the best intentions and determination they give into these cravings to smoke.

These cravings are often called the "Triggers" because they trigger the urge to smoke, which creates the craving. It makes sense that if a smoker trying to quit avoids triggers then their chances of quitting smoking greatly increases.

Easier said than done, right? Things that may trigger an urge to smoke can often be part of the lives of smokers. Their triggers could be places, people or emotions that are almost impossible to avoid unless they lived like a hermit.

Breaking it down....what is a trigger anyway? It is essentially a thought, caused by a particular emotion, resulting in a mental craving. Everything is in the mind. So really, if you want to succeed in becoming an ex-smoker, you must remove the mental cravings when you try to quit. Triggers are virtually powerless if they can not create a mental craving.

So how to remove the mental desire to smoke? Just use the mental technique of smoking cessation, which is specifically designed to remove the mental cravings to smoke, therefor making the triggers harmless. The technique that achieves this is is NLP that is based on hypnotherapy.

When you use Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to quit smoking you can remove the psychological desire to smoke in your subconscious mind. This can be done quite easily by simply listening to the recordings in a special format, which puts you in a relaxed state of mind and removes the mental desire to smoke.

NLP allows you to easily stop smoking and not have to worry about triggers that can sabotage your goal of becoming an ex-smoker.

Effects Of Smoking While Pregnant Revealed

It is well known that smoking during pregnancy is bad for a child in the womb, but few know exactly why it is dangerous for a child. This article explains how smoking during pregnancy can harm an unborn baby.

The main problem of smoking during pregnancy is that the arteries are damaged if a pregnant woman smokes, and this is damaging to blood vessels in the baby and the placenta. If you continue to smoke during pregnancy, this damages the placenta rapidly, so a child does not receive enough oxygen and nutrients. For this reason you will find that children of smokers are usually premature, and are also stressed and smaller.

If a woman smokes a lot while pregnant, the placenta may get separated from the uterine wall, which has fatal consequences for the fetus. On the other hand, women will also be at high risk when this happens. It has been discovered that nearly a tenth of perinatal mortality are caused by cigarettes. Another important issue of snuff consumption during pregnancy, the baby growing in the womb may become addicted to nicotine.
Although there are women who have a healthy pregnancy, although they smoked during pregnancy, it was found that these women may have problems during the first weeks of life of the child because the child is already dependent on nicotine when he or she is born and when he or she is removed from the environment which has nicotine, the infant will become irritable and grouchy.

Many of you may not know that a cigarette is composed of more than four thousand dangerous chemicals. Every time you smoke a cigarette, you inhale these chemicals in your body. If you are smoking during pregnancy, these chemicals travel through the placenta to the baby. These chemicals can cause all sorts of damage to your baby, as most of these chemicals are highly toxic.

As you may already know, the baby's brain develops in the third quarter, and studies have shown that children born to mothers who smoke during pregnancy, usually in the later stages of pregnancy develop disabilities in the course as ADD or attention deficit disorder. Children can also suffer from other learning disabilities. Although research is not conclusive for a direct link between heavy smokers and those with disabilities, it is advisable to stop smoking during pregnancy, because smoking can cause irreparable damage to the child's brain. So be on the safe side, you should refrain from smoking during pregnancy.

The last thing you need is to have a child who is already addicted to nicotine. The babies of women who smoke are at high risk, and if you want to give birth to a healthy baby, then you should quit smoking during pregnancy.
